Music Menu Critics Page

The Music Menu rates live performance based on the criteria listed below.

To begin, these elements are necessary to be a successful performing band in today's music industry:
  • Well-trained musicians in every position.
  • A tight, well-rehearsed band.
  • Displaying on-stage emotion and interaction with crowd and other band members.
  • A band that wears it's music style and carries it uniformly throughout all it's members.
  • Bands & musicians that do not out-price their performances and combined talent.
  • The ability to be flexible, have variety and perform enthusiastically.
  • Displaying professionalism while on or off stage.
  • Being prepared for challenges and emergencies.

Rating System

The rating scale is 1-10. Either a full point, a 3/4 point or a 1/2 point is awarded for each of the following based on a 1/2 point-being Good, 3/4 point-very good and 1 full point for excellence. We never critique the first song or even the first set.

  • Band Tightness
  • Price Versus Total Talent
  • Singers Musicianship/Range
  • Lead Guitarists Musicianship & Soloing Ability
  • Drummers Musicianship/Ability/Tempo
  • 1 Additional Members Ability (Best of remaining is chosen)
  • Band Performance (all members collectively) emotion, movement, interaction.
  • Style of Dress befitting venue and/or music style.
  • Professionalism (on and off stage)
  • Sound (ability to identify & display sound properly for the space afforded)
In the case of critiquing duo's & trio's, which have fewer members, replacement points will be judged by critiquing song selection and formatting or variety (not necessarily from genre to genre but for tempo and artist.)

Bad News for bands and musicians falling below 6 total points. We won't list you.
We strive to build a list of the most premiere bands and musicians available, which requires us to have a cut-off point.
